After a great spring season, we are charging ahead into one of the best summer fishing seasons here on Tangier Sound in a while. To put it short, this is some of the best speckled trout fishing I have seen in the last several years. So far this season, we have caught trout--in addition to some healthy stripers--on almost every trip. In the last week, the already good speck fishing has taken off drastically. We have caught some truly big fish, and in good numbers. We recently boated a solid 25" female that was safely released to lay her eggs. There was one fish that was hooked thereafter which was significantly larger, but came off the hook boat-side--heartbreaking, but good to see a trophy class of fish here. These fish should be here through the whole summer and will likely stay into October. July and August should be fantastic trout fishing in addition to bluefish, Spanish mackerel---yes there are some here now in the shallows--as well as school-sized striped bass. Recently we ran a charter and had stripers in shallow water up to 29" savagely attacking flies, giving our Sage Salt HDs a true workout. We have a ton of bait in the shallows and the fish are on it! If you ever wanted a shot at catching speckled trout on fly or spin tackle, NOW IS THE TIME TO BOOK for this summer! This is world class fishing. Please enjoy some images below from some of our trips this season. I am still taking bookings for this summer for our fantastic speckled trout fishing and I am also taking bookings for fall striper trips.
