May-November:

Begining in May, striped bass (rockfish) and speckled trout begin to invade the shallows and surrounding shorelines of the islands and tributaries of Tangier and Pocomoke Sounds.  As the season progresses, other species such as bluefish, red drum, flounder, and croaker will enter into the fray.  The variety of fish species, habitat, and remote nature of the area provides for a world class fishing experience that is perfect for the fly and spin angler.  This variety of fish generally lasts until mid October.  From about the third week in October until late November (sometimes longer!), the primary species targeted is striped bass.  This is a fantastic time of year, because of the number and size of the stripers greatly increases.

Tackle/Licenses:

All fly/spin rods, flies, lures, ice, water, licenses and permits will be provided for you as part of your charter package.  We practice light-tackle angling methods and use premium fly rods by SAGE and spinning rods by St. Croix.  You may feel free to bring your own favorite rods and tackle.  We suggest a 7-9 wt. fly rod rigged with an intermediate and sink tip line, or a 6-7 ft. medium-light to medium power spinning or casting rod with a fast action.  Clouser style minnows and decievers make up the majority of flies we use.  For light tackle, a 3/8 oz. Gotcha-style jig head tipped with a pearl 4" Sassy shad is hard to beat!

Boat:

You will be fishing from a 23 foot Jones Brothers Cape Fisherman, a boat used by many guides on the Atlantic coast.  They are specifically designed for fly fishing and light tackle angling.  The Cape Fisherman can take on a rough and unpredictable sea, while at the same time, giving access to shallow water where game fish thrive.  Additionally, the smooth and stable ride of a Jones Brothers is second to none.
